Tanisha Coelho

Hello, so i just want to tell you a little about me and my art. Im 20 years old, i live in a small town in Alberta, Canada. I have a BIG portuguese family that i love with all my heart and i have an amazing second family from the love of my life boyfriend.

For as long as i can remember art has always been apart of my life! Whenever i was little i was always painting, drawing and doing crafts. My favorite shows as a kid was always the craft shows they had on the family channel! I always dreamed of having my art in galleries and shown to the world and making people happy! There has been times in my life that i felt that i was going to lose my art but no matter what happens art aways comes back to me!

In school, i always took art classes, when i got to Jr.High, there wasnt enough spots in the art classes for me to join, it was heart breaking... I finally got a spot into art in grade 9. It honestly wasnt what i thought... the "art" teacher, wasnt really an art teacher, she was the math teacher in the school... and the way she ran the art class was by us always just drawing stuff that she put in the middle of the classroom... she never let us find our own style... I failed grade 9 art.... i was so upset, i thought i wasnt good enought... I didnt take art in grade 10 because of that.

In grade 11, i moved to the public high school and i gave art another try. WHAT A CHANGE! it was a totally different experience! My art teacher was Mr. Beseau, He honestly changed my life for the better. When i first started in art i was so shy and scared to show my art work to anyone. He showed me that everyone has a different style of art. He always did projects that were different and new and fun! Projects to let us always show our own styles & learn new things! I found the love in art again!

In my grade 11 year and grade 12 i was one of the top art students in the high school! I won an most original artist award & now have public art work within the school to stay forever!

I have now learned that no matter what people say about your art, everyone has different styles and as long as you love what your doing thats all that matters. Ive learned that i might not be good at every type of art, but to never stop trying. Ive learned to love myself and my art and not be scared to show it! Im finally in a spot in my life that i want to show my art off to the world & hope that i make people happy with my work !
